In early 2020, MEH completed a ground up rebuild of a Sandvik DE810 multipurpose drill rig. MEH's plan was to set the rig up as a true multipurpose rig with on board air, and onboard rod capacity.
The rebuild started with a full tear down and removal of the mast. The mast was completely stripped, sandblasted and repainted. While the mast was on the deck, MEH fitted a KL rod loader, to work in conjunction with rigs new rod bin. MEH installed remote control operation of the KL loader to allow the operator to move around the rig to the location with the best visibility and safety. The onboard 1150/350 combi (500 PSI) compressor was serviced with some repairs to the cooler pack. A full service of the engine and main components was undertaken before it was all off to paint before reassembly.
MEH's skilled drill fitters, honed their trade in the 90's building UDR/Sandvik rigs. This experience can be seen in the quality finish of this rebuild. The DE810 is mounted on a low klm Volvo 8x4 carrier.
The finished product is an as-new Sandvik 810, set up for minerals/exploration. The rigs rod bin is capable of holding 140m 4 1/2 inch RC pipe on board. When combined with the on-board air, this rig is a truly versatile all in one package.
